Charles Pittman
started coaching in 1996 when he became impressed with the teams and
talent he saw at the annual Hoopfest event held in Little Rock,
Arkansas. He later helped young boys win the championship in this event.
When his daughter showed an interest in basketball, he began coaching
girls and also helped them win a Hoopfest championship. He loved making
a difference in kids' lives so much, he took on the challenge of
coaching AAU girls' basketball.
Coach Pittman first
joined the Kamikaze organization in 1997 and helped teams win
championships at the state level. Coach Pittman joined the Arkansas
Maverick organization in 2000 and led his 17 and under team to
championship victories in the AAU, BCI and YBOA state tournaments. The
Mavericks 17 and under team competed at the AAU National tournament,
Clarksville, Tennessee in 2000, and finished 7th in the nation. He
followed this accomplishment with a 5th place finish at the NIC
Nationals held in 2001 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a successive 17 and under
team.
After a break in 2002,
Coach Pittman resumed his coaching activities and coached the Arkansas
Mavericks 11 and under team in 2003. He won several state championships,
finished 3rd in the AAU State tournament, and 2nd in the BCI State
tournament. His 11 and under team competed nationally in the 2003 BCI
tournament held in Lubbock, Texas and finished 3rd, after losing to only
one team during the entire tournament.
Coach Pittman is the
current Head Coach for the Arkansas Lady Sparks. He began coaching the
Sparks team in 2004 and has helped to develop many players since that
time. Although the faces and talents of this team has changed over the
years, it remains one of the most competitive and talented teams in the
state of Arkansas. The Arkansas Lady Sparks is a very reputable and
successful organization and Coach Pittman has helped to give the
organization a good reputation. He and his other coaches have assembled
a very strong and talented team for the current year and they have great
aspirations of winning state tournaments and representing the State of
Arkansas on a national level.
